The Air Force Falcons visit San Diego State on Saturday. Here is your first look at the Aztecs.

SEASON SO FAR

San Diego State (3-0) opened its season with a 38-17 win over FCS UC Davis. The following week the Aztecs downed Arizona State 30-20. Most recently State pulled off a shocking 20-17 upset over 19th ranked Stanford. Junior quarterback Christian Chapman leads the Aztecs in passing completing 46 of 68 passes for 480 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception. Senior running back Rashaad Penny (5-11, 220) has 588 yards on 71 attempts (8.3 ypc) and four TDs. Sophomore cornerback Ron Smith leads San Diego State in tackles with 17. He also has made two interceptions. Three different Aztecs have at least two sacks. The Aztec offense averages 408 yards per game, 242 rushing and 166 passing. Defensively they allow 298 yards a contest, 92 rushing and 207 passing. State has several players listed as questionable for Air Force but none are starters.

CHALLENGES

The Aztecs are a solid football team that probably could contend for a Pac-12 title if they were in that league. The Falcons will definitely need their A-game to win this contest. It will mostly come down to whether or not the Aztecs can stop the option. If they can’t it will likely be at good day for Air Force. If they can.. that’s another story.
